This webinar takes a multi-sensory approach to addressing the three main reasons why reluctant writers struggle to get their imaginations down on paper -– too many ideas, they never come out in the right order and getting that first sentence down. Hands on ways to teach brainstorming and mind mapping will be modelled together with ideas for triggering imagination in inclusive, mixed ability settings. To address issues around
cognitive overload, suggestions will be made around the use of multi-sensory scaffolds and frameworks. Unlike some other approaches to writing, these strategies aim to get the planning and paragraph one writing during an hour lesson – perfect for our learners who struggle with issues around working memory.
