Non-fiction writing is probably the most common form of writing in school yet it can often take second place to fiction. This webinar takes a cross-curricular approach to address the three main reasons why reluctant writers struggle to write non-fiction – too many ideas, they never come out in the right order and getting that first sentence down. Strategies for the use of scaffolds/templates and “PEELs” will be presented together with
suggestions for teaching argument/opinion and narrative. Although the focus will be on learners at KS2+3 who typically talk a subject effectively but who struggle to get their ideas down on paper at the same level particular , all strategies will apply at KS4 and beyond.
