Course Overview
Recent evidence from the local area inspections is indicating that pupils identified as requiring SEN Support in schools are not receiving the education that meets their individual needs.
Many schools are trying desperately to be inclusive and offer a differentiated and personalised curriculum required by these pupils but at the same time the pressures of results, accountability and reduced funding is challenging.
With the complexity of needs becoming so diverse schools may need to consider the roles and responsibilities of their current workforce. Do they have the knowledge and skills required to meet the needs of their pupils? Have they had relevant training? Do schools need to employ other professionals to support some pupils?
During this session Lorraine will explore the current position that schools find themselves in regarding their workforce. She will then explore some alternatives that could be investigated in the future.
