Too Much Information on Social Media

Seven Dimensions
Updated Dec 30, 2019

Colin McLaren and Eve Ash discuss the need to prevent “too much information” on social media. People should be more cautious about what information they share and what they say about their organization.

Course Overview

Lots of people enjoy regularly updating their social media. Too much information about their movements, habits and opinions exposes them to potential trouble, warns Colin McLaren. Less is more when it comes to Facebook etc – you don’t want stalkers or any angry employer sacking you. Protect yourself and change passwords regularly.

Key Learning Points

As people discover social media, and share devices, they get in the habit of:

  • Telling the world what they are doing

  • Giving too much away about themselves– less is more

  • Firing off opinions that might reflect adversely on their employer

  • Sharing passwords
