Course Overview
This 2.5 hour interactive course provides nurses with insight into how patients are managed by first responders immediately prior to transfer to the emergency department. It is based on current best practice evidence.

Learning Objectives
This course teaches the pathophysiology and classification of stroke including transient ischaemic attacks ischaemic and haemorrhagic strokes. It teaches how to identify the symptoms of an acute stroke and the common conditions that mimic stroke complicating and delaying appropriate treatment. It provides instruction on the use of validated stroke assessment tools.
Business Outcomes
This course provides nurses with insight into the role of first responders when treating stroke immediately prior to transfer to hospital.
