Course Introduction
Organizational learning is defined as the process of creating, retaining and transferring knowledge within an organization. Bertrand Moingeon, professor of strategic management at HEC Paris and author of several books including Building Social Business Models, has been focusing on various aspects of L&D in his multiple articles and teachings.
In this course on organizational learning, Moingeon covers topics such as the importance of organizational learning in helping companies prevent repetition of mistakes, the “how” of learning as the logical exploitation or improvement of existing processes, and “why” as the logical exploration or innovation and problem solving. He discusses why organizational learning is essential to a company’s success, and why critical changes are particularly difficult to implement when a company is doing well. Moingeon discusses how leaders with a transformational mission must nurture a learning culture. He talks about the types of behaviors that should be encouraged in a learning culture, including cultivating discussion and collaboration. He also discusses the use of productive reasoning and how learning plans can be created for individuals, teams, management and organizations.
