Course Overview

Young children are not yet able to act in ways that keep themselves safe and protect themselves from accidental injury - that is the role of the adult. As a family day care educator, you have a duty of care to ensure children are provided with a safe environment and minimise the risk to children’s health and safety.

In this module you’ll learn about the legislation, guidelines and policies and procedures that aim to prevent accidental injury in your family day care service. You’ll also find out about some of the most common accidents and injuries are in services. You’ll explore a range of environmental factors that contribute to these accidents and injuries, so that you can plan activities and set up the environment in a way that reduces the likelihood of accidental injury in the service.
