HIV in Ageing: for Aged Care and Community Nurses

Directed at aged care and community nurses, this online learning module has been designed as an introduction to HIV, with a focus on the health challenges of HIV in ageing.  

This one-hour learning module includes 3 topic areas:

  1. Introduction to HIV
  2. Ageing with HIV
  3. The nurse’s role in HIV and ageing

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain how HIV can be transmitted and prevented, including the concept "undetectable = untransmittable”
  • Summarise the common comorbidities associated with living longer with HIV
  • Identify nursing interventions for promoting treatment adherence
  • Outline the role and responsibility of nurses in maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy

Target Audience: Registered and enrolled nurses working in aged care and community healthcare services and settings.
