Course Overview

This online learning module will provide nurses with the knowledge to identify signs and symptoms of Advanced Liver Disease and support their patients with ongoing monitoring requirements, to reduce progression of liver disease.

Business Outcomes

Increased knowledge of normal liver function and the signs, symptoms and management of fibrosis and cirrhosis, including the nurses role in supporting patient care.

Learning Outcomes

  1. State the signs and symptoms of advanced liver disease
  2. Outline the steps in fibrosis assessment and management
  3. Outline screening and monitoring requirements for patients with compensated and decompensated cirrhosis
  4. Define the nurse’s role in the identification, care and management of patients with advanced liver disease

This online learning module has been endorsed by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) according to approved quality standards criteria. Completion of this educational activity entitles eligible participants to claim 1 CPD hour.
