Dementia 8 – Assisting people with dementia with ADLs

This is module 8 of a nine-part series looking at dementia. In this module, we look at making a connection with the individual with dementia so that you can work effectively together to complete care tasks.   

This course has been mapped to Aged Care Quality Standards 1, 3, 4 and 7.

In this course the following areas will be covered: 

  • using the care plan 

  • being prepared 

  • connecting with the person specific ADLs: bathing, dressing, eating 

  • working together. 

Business Outcomes 

Staff will be given strategies that bring dignity and respect to the completion of care tasks and which have proven effective for reducing resistiveness in people with dementia.
