Course Introduction

It is a recognized fact that for an organization to succeed and be profitable, there needs to be a strong focus on consistent learning. Peter Senge, senior lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management, shares his expertise on how to create a learning organization using the principles from his book The Fifth Discipline.

In this course, Senge offers strategies and principles for leaders to create an environment where innovation thrives. He discusses the three core learning capabilities or goals that are based on using a systems thinking method by which organizations can truly become learning organizations. He talks about the need for leaders to see the web of inter-connectedness in any situation, an explanation of the concept of “actions creating reality” which Senge calls ‘the doorstep to systems thinking’, and how the term metanoia relates to a recent major shift in orientation in management.
