This course presents an overview of the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Annual Refresher Training of Miners for MSHA Part 48 training requirements. It will cover some basic mining regulations for underground metal, non-metal, and coal mines as well as surface areas of underground metal, non-metal, and coal mines. In addition, the course covers how to recognize and avoid hazards inherent to mines, emergency response procedures, and miners' rights and responsibilities. The mine operator must provide task and site-specific training in addition to the topics covered herein. Note that this course has been designed to retrain experienced miners after one year.
