Welcome to "HIPAA Intermediate for Security Officers," a series of video lessons meant to exhort every viewer to the highest standards of security for protecting health information. This video lesson, "The Security Rule," is the first in a series of five. The primary goal of this rule is to protect the privacy of electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) while allowing covered entities to adopt new technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care. This is accomplished by implementing the three different kinds of Safeguards of the Security Rule: administrative, physical, and technical.
