Course Description

This course is based on Professor John Adair's work on leadership. It will enable you to understand the three main approaches to leadership: the qualities approach, the situational approach & the functional approach.
Furthermore, it will also show you how to apply the principles of leadership in terms of the 3 Circle model which illustrates the interlocking needs of the task, the team and the individual - all of which the leader has to satisfy.

Learning Objectives

Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills to:

• Distinguish between the 'qualities', 'situational' and 'functional' approaches to leadership
• Use the 3 Circle as a guiding principle for effective leadership
• Identify the 3 areas of need a leader needs to address: Task needs, team maintenance needs and individual needs
