Course Overview

Eve Ash asks Peter Quarry for an example of common thinking errors when people are stuck in an impasse. Peter Quarry explains that people tend to dig their heels in and believe there are only two ways to solve the problem: your way or my way. It is vital to calm down and then seek alternate ways to collaborate on a solution. Another common error is seeing only facts or information that supports a view already held (confirmation bias).

Peter Quarry describes a common thinking error in problem situations is to believe there is only a win-lose solution. Seeing what a person wants to see or believe is another common error.

Learning Objectives

A common problem when researching solutions is thinking errors such as:

  • Believing there are only two ways to solve an issue
