Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a collective term for diseases of the heart and blood vessels, many of which are related to a progressive accumulation of plaque in the arteries called coronary atherosclerosis. It has been estimated that heart disease kills 1 Australian every 12 minutes. This course is for all nurses and midwives who interact with patients who have, or are at risk of developing, CVD, or have a genetic history of CVD. This course discusses CVD risk profiles, treatment management options, including lifestyle changes and pharmacology recommendations, and provides an overview of paediatric care.
