Asset Classes: Equity Subclasses

Equities, or stocks and shares, represent ownership of a company, and a claim on the company's earnings and (in the event of the company going bankrupt) its assets. Equities come in many types, and assumptions made about some equities are completely inappropriate for other equities types. We therefore break equities down into subclasses and explore each of the subclasses in turn. The subclasses are broken down by geographic region, emerging markets, size, industry/sector and investment style/strategy.
