In this course, we cover both the responsibility of a PCBU to provide a safe and secure retail environment and your responsibility as a retail worker to comply with all safety requirements and to diligently follow approved procedures. We must all work together to maintain a safe retail environment that complies with broad health and safety legislation, approved store processes and reasonable customer expectations.
Legislation outlines safety requirements in a retail environment and the resulting procedures are extended to define the specific policies and procedures that reflect a store's unique circumstances. For instance, some stores will require specific procedures for handling heavy items, chemical products or a challenging clientele. In this course we underline the importance of following defined procedures that are designed to get you home safely at the end of each day!
