The process of securitizing a collateral pool involves a number of key stages, beginning with asset selection and transfer and ending with the distribution of asset-backed securities. Even at the end of this process the underlying assets must continue to be serviced. Here we outline the key steps in a typical securitization and the responsibilities of the players involved.
