Course Description

Online safety is just as important as real-world safety for the children and young people in our care. Although the internet is an amazing arena in which children can play and learn, it is also rife with risks, such as exposure to inappropriate content to name just one.

This course gives you an awareness of internet safety, explaining the dangers and how parents and carers can act to ensure the safety of children when they go online. Full of interactivity and practical advice, this helpful course empowers you to help children protect themselves when online.

In this course you will learn:

  • Why online safety awareness and practices are so vital for children and young people especially
  • The technologies and online environments that pose a risk 
  • Advice on supervising children, privacy settings, and parental controls
  • The relevance of the digital footprint and online reputation, and
  • How to advise children on safe internet use, warning them of the dangers such as cyberbullying and grooming

This course is intended for families and all children’s workforce practitioners, i.e. all staff who work with children, young people and their families.
