The U.S. includes more than six million workplaces, each of which can pose one or more potential health hazards to workers. Industrial hygienists evaluate worksites for potential problems and suggest measures to correct or lessen the effects of these health hazards according to OSHA regulations. This course gives an overview of the history of industrial hygiene science and potential health hazards in the workplace. It also includes descriptions of common air contaminant, chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
