Course Overview

Workplace equality is a right for all employees and challenging it when it’s not in place is important. If you work in health and social care, you’re particularly likely to encounter people from a wide range of backgrounds and some of these people will need your support to promote adequate equality and inclusion. Cultural awareness training can help clarify the areas in which some people struggle in the workplace.

Target Audience

This course is ideal for you if you’re a new member of staff in a healthcare support worker or adult social care worker role; or providing direct care to individuals. It’s also useful for you if you’re moving into a new role or simply want to refresh your equality and diversity knowledge.

Learning Objectives

Once you’ve completed this course, you’ll have a complete working knowledge of:

• The meaning of ‘person-centred care’ and its relevance to diversity
• The differences between equality, diversity, inclusion and discrimination
• The legislation relating to discrimination, including the Equality Act 2010
• How your own prejudices might influence the way you work
• How to challenge discrimination
• Where to access information and advice
