Dodd-Frank Act: The Volcker Rule (Prohibitions)

The Volcker Rule prohibits banking entities from engaging in proprietary trading and owning or sponsoring hedge funds or private equity funds. We describe the prohibitions set out by the Volcker Rule in relation to proprietary trading and hedge fund and private equity fund sponsorship and ownership. We then look at the time period within which entities must comply with the Rule.
