This training program is designed to present information on the nature of hazardous materials and help employees reduce or eliminate potential exposure to hazardous materials in their work environments. Upon completion of the program, employees should understand the importance of building trust with the media before an incident occurs; know the duties and responsibilities of a Public Information Officer (PIO); know the early steps that need to be taken in an emergency situation to control the media's access to the area; and understand the potential consequences of making unauthorized statements to the media.
